The Ian Rowand competition took place today in ideal conditions on Lough Owel. There was a moderate West/Northwest wind and the rain held off. There was no fly life to be seen but the swallows dipped and dived around the lake so perhaps there was something up.
11 of the 22 competing anglers weighed in 19 fish which was a fair return. Donal Monahan took the top position with his 2 fine fish weighing in at 6.895 lbs and one of those was the heaviest fish for the day at 3.66 Lbs.
PJ O’Driscoll came in 2nd place with his bag of 4.950 Lbs and Cathal McDonnell in 3rd with 4.455 Lbs.
The special weight prize went to Jim Keeshan.
